Candidates must possess the prescribed regular full-time qualification. Part-time, correspondence and distance-learning qualifications are not accepted. A minimum of 50% marks is required in the qualifying examination, while SC and PwBD candidates need at least 45% marks.
Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as B.E./B.Tech, MBA, CA or MCA are not eligible, as stated in the recruitment details.
Age Limit

- Age will be calculated as on 31 July 2026.
- SC candidates: 5 years relaxation
- OBC-NCL candidates: 3 years relaxation
- PwBD candidates: 10 years relaxation
Stipend & Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend during the apprenticeship training period. The stipend will be paid according to the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973, Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and applicable IOCL guidelines.

Apprentices are trainees and not regular IOCL employees. Completion of apprenticeship training does not guarantee permanent employment in IOCL.
Selection Process
- Preparation of trade-wise merit list based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination
- Preference to eligible candidates as per the apprenticeship rules

- Pre-engagement Medical Fitness Examination
If two candidates secure equal marks, the older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list. If the date of birth is also the same, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier will receive preference.
